I've been hearing a lot about this lately, and Born to Run is on my to-read list. I randomly went for an 11-mile barefoot run this past summer and I thought I was going to be hurting the next couple of days. I wasn't hurting at all, besides the insane blisters on my feet! I'm not sure if I'll be an avid barefoot runner, except on the beach, but I can see how it strengthens different muscles and helps with stabilization and balance.

Thanks Nick! I would start with kb presses for sure, Go a google search for that. Swings will build a big back.

Ollie, I think a class would get you off on the right start and make sure you have good form, etc. Most classes I think have a beginner's class that you have to attend before you can do the "regular" classes. Good luck!

I have seen kettle bell DVD workouts at Target and I was wondering what your thoughts are on that. Will it do more harm than good if I use the DVD vs. going to a class?

To Tony, who suggested taking off the wetsuit while still in the water.
Great idea - give me specific details: do you stop, stand up, and take it off?
I can't quite envision the best way.
Also - thanks for the tip on kicking to get pooled blood out of my legs.
Now I know why I can't run when I finish the swim!
I've been competing in Tris since 1983 - am very competitive in my age group,
(I'm 67) and every little bit helps. ( I regularly beat over 35% of the entire field) THANKS

Very useful blog,
My main objective is to build some upper body mass. What type of routine would you recommend for putting some beef on the upper body with kettlebells
